Growing Baby Girl

Our New Year started with quite the surprise as we left our Christmas visit pretty sure we were expecting. The day we landed in Madrid, we went straight to the doctor and confirmed it: I was 5 weeks along. There wasn't much to see yet, but we were on our way! At our first "real" appointment, 8-10 weeks, we heard baby's heartbeat.

And at 12 weeks, we finally got a good look at our sweet girl. Already then, the doctor said he was 80% sure we had a little girl coming, but they couldn't confirm the sex until 17-20 weeks. I held my breath waiting for the tiny one to move, and when she finally got active, I teared up. Coque cried like a baby the whole appointment. We were already in love.

Our 12 week announcement.

At the 20 week appointment they confirmed our suspicions: it's a baby girl. They checked that everything was developing normally. All her measurements were around percentile 50 except for one: the femur length, that was over 90 😂. Yes, we can only imagine she will be tall.

We had to wait 2 months to see baby girl again, but our 28 appointment went well. I passed my glucose test and baby girl is still measuring right around average, except her long legs, again. At 30 weeks, we decided to see baby girl in 5D and start imagining just what that little face might look like. She spent the whole appointment cuddling up against the umbilical cord, the placenta, and the uterine wall. Even though she kept covering her face with her hands, she let us see a few sweet smiles and even stuck out her little tongue.

30-week 5D ultrasound with plenty of smiles.

We will see her again in month, and we'll update then.
